Refund Policy
Effective date: 11 June 2026 · Last updated: 12 June 2026
This policy explains your refund rights when purchasing deal vouchers on GroceryDeals. It complies with Australian Consumer Law and is designed to be fair to shoppers, retailers, and the platform.
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law cannot be excluded by any policy. If in doubt, your statutory rights always prevail over this document.
Quick Reference
| Scenario | Outcome |
|---|---|
| Voucher not yet redeemed — any time before expiry | Full cash refund |
| Voucher already redeemed in-store | No refund — service fully delivered |
| Voucher expired without redemption | No refund — voucher expired |
| Retailer cancels their deal or closes their store | Full automatic cash refund |
| Platform technical failure (payment taken, no voucher issued) | Full automatic cash refund |
| Retailer refuses a valid, unexpired voucher | Full refund after investigation |
1. What You Are Purchasing
When you complete a purchase on GroceryDeals you are buying a digital deal voucher — the right to redeem a specific grocery deal at a participating retailer's physical store before the expiry date shown on the listing.
You are not purchasing grocery items directly from GroceryDeals. GroceryDeals acts as a technology intermediary only. Each retailer is solely responsible for fulfilling the deal at their store.
This distinction is important: your refund rights relate to the voucher service, not the grocery items themselves.
2. Your Statutory Rights Under Australian Consumer Law
Australian Consumer Law (ACL) provides you with statutory guarantees that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by any terms or policies — including these.
Under the ACL you are entitled to a remedy if the service you purchased: • Was not delivered at all (e.g. a technical failure or retailer closure) • Was not as described in the listing • Was not fit for the purpose for which it was sold
Nothing in this Refund Policy limits or removes your ACL statutory rights. If there is any inconsistency between this Policy and your ACL rights, your ACL rights prevail in all cases.
3. Change-of-Mind Refunds
GroceryDeals offers a full cash refund on any unredeemed voucher, at any time before the deal's expiry date. This goes above and beyond what the ACL requires for change-of-mind situations.
You may request a full cash refund provided all of the following apply: • The voucher has not been redeemed (status: UNUSED) • The voucher has not yet expired
Once the expiry date has passed, no refund is available. You are responsible for managing your vouchers and either redeeming them or requesting a refund before the expiry date shown on the listing.
4. Refunds Due to Retailer or Platform Fault
Where a refund is required because of a failure by the retailer or the GroceryDeals platform — not because of your choice — a full cash refund is issued automatically or upon your request.
Retailer cancels a deal or closes their store: GroceryDeals will automatically issue a full cash refund to your original payment method within 5 business days. You will receive an email notification without needing to contact us.
Retailer refuses a valid voucher: If you present a valid, unexpired voucher and the retailer refuses to honour it, contact support@grocerydeals.com.au within 48 hours of the refusal with your order number and the date and time of the incident. We will investigate and, where your claim is substantiated, issue a full cash refund within 10 business days.
Platform technical failure: If your payment was processed successfully but no voucher was issued, contact us at support@grocerydeals.com.au and we will issue a full refund within 3 business days.
5. When No Refund Is Available
No refund is available in the following circumstances:
• The voucher has been redeemed (status: REDEEMED) — the service was fully delivered when you scanned in-store. • The voucher has expired — the refund window closes at the deal's expiry date. You had until expiry to either redeem or return the voucher. • The claim is made on behalf of a third party to whom you passed the voucher — vouchers are non-transferable. • The voucher was intentionally misused or fraudulently obtained.
These limitations do not affect any statutory remedy you may have under Australian Consumer Law.
6. How to Request a Refund
To request a refund, email support@grocerydeals.com.au with the subject line: "Refund Request — Order #[your order number]"
Include the following in your email: • Your registered email address • The order number (found under My Orders or in your purchase confirmation email) • The reason for the refund request • Any supporting evidence (e.g. a photo if the retailer refused the voucher)
We aim to acknowledge all refund requests within 2 business days.
7. Refund Processing Times
Once approved, refunds are processed as follows:
Cash refunds: Returned to your original payment method (credit or debit card) within 5–10 business days from approval. Processing times may vary depending on your card issuer and are outside GroceryDeals' control once initiated.
Platform credit: Applied to your GroceryDeals account within 1 business day of approval.
Automatic refunds (retailer cancellation or technical failure): Initiated within 1 business day. Funds typically appear on your statement within 5–10 business days.
8. Escalation and External Bodies
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of a refund request, you may escalate by replying to the original support email and requesting a senior review. We will re-assess your request within 5 business days.
If you remain dissatisfied after internal escalation, you may contact: • The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC): accc.gov.au • NSW Fair Trading: fairtrading.nsw.gov.au • Consumer Affairs Victoria: consumer.vic.gov.au • Your state or territory's equivalent consumer protection agency
GroceryDeals welcomes all feedback and takes every complaint seriously.
